I am a wife, mother, and a certified birth doula. I completed my doula certification in 2013, and have attended over 25 births as the primary doula.
My job as your doula is to help you achieve your best birth.
I help you and your partner manage the feelings, choices, energy, and, yes, the stress and anxiety, that can be part of the birth experience—so you don’t have to do it alone.
“Certified” means you can rely on my ethics and professionalism as your doula, as well as my training, experience, and ongoing education.
Many doulas are DONA-trained, but very few are certified.
I am a certified birth doula through DONA International.
To become certified, I have completed the following requirements:
– 32 workshop hours of birth doula training at the Simkin Center for Allied Birth Vocations, Bastyr University, Seattle, WA
– Primary doula at three observed births and receiving high evaluations by the client and the nurse, OB, or midwife attending.
– Completing continuing education credits to maintain my certification.
– Researching a list of pregnancy and birth resources in the Spokane and Spokane Valley community.
